A piece shaped around the person who will live with it: a crucifix for a wedding or baptism, a font for a new home, a set of mugs for a family table.
Cate welcomes commissioned work and has made pieces for bridal showers, baptisms, housewarmings, and holiday gifts. Devotional commissions, crucifixes, crosses, and holy water fonts, are a specialty.
How it works

Send a note describing what you have in mind: the kind of piece, rough size, colors you love, and when you need it.
Agree on the piece
Cate replies with what is possible, a price, and a realistic timeline. Porcelain cannot be rushed; drying, glazing, and firing set the pace.
Making and firing
The piece is thrown or built, trimmed, glazed, and fired in her home kiln. Glaze always has a mind of its own, which is part of what makes the piece yours alone.
Pickup or shipping
Local pickup in Front Royal, or carefully packed shipping within the US.
Timing note for gifts: firings batch up, so allow several weeks of lead time, and more before Christmas.
